A musical about overcoming tragedy
Book, Music & Lyrics by Michael Antin
SYNOPSIS
“Butterfly” is an original musical based on a true story about a young woman named Klara who, because of her alcoholic father’s abusive treatment of her, has grown up with a deep rooted distrust of men.
She meets Doctor Jake Kelly, a psychologist who takes a visiting professorship at the university where Klara works. Upon meeting Klara, Jake becomes aware of her discomfort with him and begins probing deeper into her past. He soon realizes that he can help release her from this cocoon, which insulates her from dealing with the opposite sex.
Eventually she meets Jake’s best friend Max via the internet and through cyber-space correspondence, Klara and Max fall in love. The play ends with the marriage of Klara and Max in Los Angeles.
And, yes, Klara, a fairy tale can come true.
